Her clinical interests and expertise have been shaped by extensive experience working with diverse populations across a variety of settings. Her passion for the field was sparked by observing the gap in mental health awareness while engaging in community work.
Abeedah’s professional experience spans both the government and private sectors, including roles within the Department of Social Development, the South African National Defence Force, and the Department of Health. She has worked across primary, specialist, and tertiary care settings, gaining a broad and practical understanding of mental health needs.
In her practice, Abeedah primarily adopts a psychodynamic approach, complemented by a range of therapeutic techniques to ensure each client receives personalised support. Her special interests are working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, maternal mental health challenges, PTSD, neurodiversity, and geriatric mental health concerns. This approach helps clients identify defensive patterns, bring unconscious behaviours into awareness, and facilitate meaningful personal growth and healing.
Central to her practice is developing a genuine, collaborative therapeutic relationship. Abeedah strives to create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. She believes that seeking support is a courageous and important first step in self-care and personal development.
Abeedah warmly invites clients to embark on their therapeutic journey in an environment where their mental health and well-being are the priority.
